A few weeks ago, I heard that the Atlanta Koi Club was having a show at our local fairgrounds. Being a true lover of koi and goldfish I had to go. I will probably never be able to have a koi pond so I will take any opportunity to go view these lovely fish. I did rescue a koi once, and gave it to someone with a proper pond.
Click on the pics to enjoy. The fish were so beautiful and had so much orange and black–perfect for Halloween!
The Atlanta Koi Club hosted this show.
Inside the main exhbit building of our local fairgrounds, dozens of big blue plastic tanks were set up for the big guys.
There were some small tanks, too, for fancy goldfish. I think they were part of a show and were being judged on color, size, etc.
There is a name for each and every type of color pattern on koi. Can’t remember a one at the moment.
This one was THE biggest in the whole show. I was hoping to use my hand for scale, but I can’t show how huge he is. I would say at least four feet long.
His tankmate was almost as large.
Gorgeous black and orange for Halloween!
Aha! I found a very pretty guide to all the koi color and scale varieties. See if you can match these with the fish in my pictures. 🙂
