My Weird Life: The Dumbbell Monster

My dreams are often quite vivid and I remember almost all of them. On top of that, I dream in both color and black and white, and in cartoons. My dreams often have some killer special effects, too. They are often hilarious, but some are definitely terrifying. Either of these scenarios can mean a dream populated with monsters.

Many years ago—I think I was still a teen— I had a dream that I was pregnant, and in the middle of  a miscarriage. I don’t know how old the baby was or who the father was or anything. All I can remember is delivering a baby that I knew was dead, and there was this awful beast at my bedside, screaming, “YOUR TIME IS UP! YOUR TIME IS UP!”

What did this beast look like? Well,I have drawn it pretty much crystal-clear from memory:

Because of its shape I have always called it “The Dumbbell Monster”. In Continue reading

Christmas Countdown 2017: The Box of EYES!

One of my best pals, Mel, sent me a box today that I think she called the “Hallowchristmas Box”. In other words, it contained stuff she had gotten me for Halloween and for Christmas! I gotta share this with you guys, because it’s just beyond amazing.

The first thing I pulled out was this knockout of a purse. I forgot to take pictures of the neat magical symbols on the back and the green satiny eyeball fabric on the inside.

Halloween Countdown 2017: The Bounty at Dollar Tree!

I shoulda written about this sooner; now things are picked over and if you like what you see here you might not be able to get them.

We have several Dollar Tree stores in our area; generally I haven’t been too thrilled with their holiday offerings; it always seems like everything looks too “kiddie” themed or just as if it were made by the lowest-paid designers, which of course is how they keep things cheap. But this year I was really pleasantly shocked at the designs of some of Dollar Tree’s Halloween Wares, from glowing gloves to decorated treat boxes!

Gloves with glowing features!! There were also skeleton and witchy-clawed hands, too!

Halloween Countdown 2017: Gifts from my Nephew!

Sometimes I really enjoy being the crazy aunt. For one thing, my beloved nephew and niece send me fun stuff, like this:

My nephew works for a logistics company,so he’s conscientious about including a “shipping manifest” for a box of stuff he sends. In the box were all kinds of things for me, my husband, my other brother, and my mother and stepdad, and my nephew Bryan neatly wrote a description of everything and who it all should be distributed to. 🙂

Here is most of my stuff before I uncovered a few more things. I should note that my oldest sibling’s children attend the University of Arkansas and therefore are big Razorbacks fans. I by default apparently now have to support the team —Bryan asked me if I would send some good juju—–so.uh..WooO PIGS! SOOOIIIEEEEE!(did I do that right, kids?)

Anyway, I got a kitty candleholder and candles, a lighter with an awesome reptilian eye(I don’t smoke, of course, but people can send me stuff like this anyway if it looks cool), a couple of Oreo Halloween eggs that I have to share with Steve, a sweet kitty and pumpkin magnet, and a great drawing of a Jack o’ lantern face on the envelope with my card. 🙂
