Halloween Countdown 2017: Little One-Eyed Dolly from Smeddley!

I gots a present!20170918_171814.jpg

My pal Smeddley and I exchange small gifts on occasion; I send her rubber ducky items, she knits adorable little toys for my Collection of One-Eyed Monsters. I think she simply knits in her spare time and needs a project to complete on occasion and asks me what I would like. This one was a total surprise until she asked me if I liked the ears. I said “sure”, and the next thing I knew, an adorable cyclops dolly arrived in the mail! Thanks, Smedd!!

Happy Easter from Daddles and Me!

I couldn’t let this one slip by.

Here is my brother and me in probably 1975 or 76, with our Easter baskets. (he says we look like aliens in this pc :D)  I had gotten a white toy kitty in mine, and I’m holding it in the photo. I still have it, but it’s packed away somewhere.

See the little toy ducky in Scott’s basket?

This little guy. Well, when we had to clean out my Mother’s house, I found him!

Daddles

I remember always coveting this cute fella. I seem to distinctly remember his name being Daddles. I hope it was, because I’m calling him that. Happy Easter from Daddles and me!

My Weird Little Easter Basket, part 1!

We’ve had a few crazy months here at WeirdCrest. My dear husband was away for months while he took care of his mother after a fall. Then he brought his mother home to stay with us(things are going well, but it definitely has wraught changes). Two weeks after I finally had my husband home, he was in a car wreck. While we pick up the pieces of the things that have happened, my little pet rescue must keep going. Needless to say my husband has not been able to work so we have lost revenue there, etc., etc.,. Some friends sent me some Target giftcards, demanding I go get something fun with them. Well, goshdarnit, I DID.

I made up my own Easter Basket. My  Ultimate Easter Basket, I should say.

I’ll do some more pics and posts later, because I’m quite giddy about it, but I have other irons in the fire right now with artwork. I’ll give you a little taste of one of the funnest things in the basket. Woot!

So here’s the spread! A dinosaur pail, A new Madball(Oculus Orbus, to be specific), Play-Doh Spring Eggs, A Jar Full of Dinos and a Jar Full of Ponies, plastic “Dino Eggs” that have stegosaur-like plates going down one side,a set of Flair felt tip pens,  a Hex Bug Nano Robot in an egg,and because no Easter basket is complete without them, some wee chenille chicks in a pack of four.

Here I will talk about the Hex Bug Nano. It came in a small egg about the size of a small chicken egg.

Once I cut the packaging free I realized the bug has tiny bunny ears. Oh. Em. Goodness. 🙂
I never have had one of these or seen one in action. Essentially you flip the switch on the underside and it goes into extreme scurry mode–it just scoots everywhere, and when it bumps into something it goes the other way. It gave me quite a giggle. It can get away from you quite easily!

LOOKIT THE TEENY EARS!!

I also got a pack of purple Peeps, but Steve and I ate most of them already. :/

Vintage Toys: A Box from my Mother’s House!

Last night I got together with my two brothers and we went through some extremely dusty boxes in Mother’s basement. We had great fun and I came home with a box of treasures–things I had been wondering about but had thought they were scattered to the wind. I have a lot of my old toys at my house, in storage and in my home, but there were still some missing pieces….I found a lot of them. 🙂

Funny Valentines: Slime Yours!

Once Halloween and Christmas is over, I’ve often gone into a slump because my collecting bug gets zapped. Valentine’s Day, even having a wonderful husband, has always been a little nauseating with all the very saccharine sentiments in the store displays and everything hosed down with Pepto Bismol Pink. I love vintage Valentines, as many of them were downright weird and I simply loved the old artwork so much more. Few of today’s Valentine designs could beat them, in my book.

Until Now.

Possibly, some of the companies that produce the classroom Valentine Packs received complaints about not having products that boys could have fun giving without seeming “girly”, which is of course the kiss of death in some kid circles. Or perhaps boys and girls wanted something a bit less run-of-the-mill, with options that didn’t have the latest cartoon character screaming at them from the front of the card. Maybe they just wanted something a little different.
If that’s what happened, the designers responded.

The first of the many screwy new Valentines I have uncovered this year comes from, of all places, Target’s dollar section. They are amazing, adorable, and just a little…odd. Which of course made me squeal with delight over them. WIthout further delay, I now present: SLIME VALENTINES. 😀

Each Valentine comes on a card of four that you separate with scissors(they aren’t perforated). They all read “Slime Yours, Valentine”, and each comes with a mini tub of slime “putty”.
