Halloween Countdown 2017: The Teal Pumpkin Project Finale!

I try to keep my two websites separate since Puppatoons is the “cleaner” site, but I can show yall some content I made for it and its Facebook Page. Our home is participating in The Teal Pumpkin Project, which is a campaign that aims to make Halloween safer for everyone, including the one in 13 kids who has a food allergy ranging from mild to life-threatening.

Halloween Countdown 2017: Book Review of Ed Emberly’s BIG ORANGE DRAWING BOOK!

Friends, I have something SO special to share with you.

When I was a young and of course very odd little kid,I loved drawing as much as I do now, and I would devour with my eyes any books about drawing that I could get my hands on. And books such as those by Ed Emberly, one of my artistic heroes, were some of the best. Through drawing simple shapes and lines, Mr. Emberly taught us kids to really have fun, use our imaginations and explore once we had mastered the basics of his adorable little drawings. Some of these books featured things that were all one color, such as the Big Green Drawing Book, the Big Red Drawing Book, the Big Purple Drawing Book, and my favorite, the Big Orange Drawing Book.

The Big Orange Drawing Book shows you how to draw a lot of orange animals, such as tigers and foxes, characters made out of oranges(yes, the fruit!), and–best of all—Halloween characters.

Halloween Countdown 2017: The Bounty at Dollar Tree!

I shoulda written about this sooner; now things are picked over and if you like what you see here you might not be able to get them.

We have several Dollar Tree stores in our area; generally I haven’t been too thrilled with their holiday offerings; it always seems like everything looks too “kiddie” themed or just as if it were made by the lowest-paid designers, which of course is how they keep things cheap. But this year I was really pleasantly shocked at the designs of some of Dollar Tree’s Halloween Wares, from glowing gloves to decorated treat boxes!

Gloves with glowing features!! There were also skeleton and witchy-clawed hands, too!

Halloween Countdown 2017: A Different Kind of Orange and Black–The Atlanta Koi Show!

A few weeks ago, I heard that the Atlanta Koi Club was having a show at our local fairgrounds. Being a true lover of koi and goldfish I had to go. I will probably never be able to have a koi pond so I will take any opportunity to go view these lovely fish. I did rescue a koi once, and gave it to someone with a proper pond.

Click on the pics to enjoy. The fish were so beautiful and had so much orange and black–perfect for Halloween!

Aha! I found a very pretty guide to all the koi color and scale varieties. See if you can match these with the fish in my pictures. 🙂

Halloween Countdown 2017: So I caved and got a Zombie from Starbucks.

I have zero interest in coffee from Starbucks. If that’s your thing, that is totally fine; I have plenty of stuff I spend my money on that people would tilt their heads like puzzled terriers about. I’ve also never really been one for “flash sales” of things. But, when I heard about the Zombie drink thingy from Starbucks, I thought, what the heck, I will add it to this year’s Halloween fun experiences.

From the Starbucks website:

Walk, run or drag one foot with your arms outstretched to grab one of our limited-time Zombie Frappuccino® Blended Beverages. It’s more treat than trick with delicious apple and caramel flavors.

I got the smallest size and even then the barista took off a dollar,so it was $4.
