Halloween Countdown 2017: Lindsey Buckingham’s “Go Insane” Video!

I have reviewed several spooky/unsettling videos on here; I still have yet to review “Rockit”,but I may overcome that this season.

A video whose song I loved and was a little freaked out by its video is “Go Insane” by  Lindsey Buckingham. Buckingham is one of those artists whom I didn’t know were part of other, bigger entities when I discovered them back in the 1980s, when my music tastes were developing. Once I learned he was part of Fleetwood Mac, I felt a little embarrassed. Same story with Paul McCartney—– once I figured out McCartney was one of the Beatles, I had to backtrack and realize that was Paul singing on on so many of my favorite old songs. I could go on—-Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Jeff Lynne, etc. Anyway, Lindsey Buckingham’s “Go Insane” video has some of the early roots of computer animation and good old superimposing at work, making some pretty wacky stuff for its time..for instance:

For the lyric “Two kinds of trouble in this world/
Living, dying “, Lindsey holds up two boxes and out pops a mini-me of himself plus an adorable little skeleton marionette.

Monsters of Central America:The Cadejo!

cadejo 2 blk
The Evil Black Cadejo

Cadejos are creatures in Salvadoran, Belizean,Nicaraguan, Costa Rican, Honduran, Guatemalan, Panamanian and southern Mexican folklore  that are usually seen as large shaggy dogs, but are not quite dogs. They often look as if they are part goat, with horns and sometimes even cloven-hoofed feet. A goat-like smell often accompanies a cadejo. There is a good white cadejo and an evil black cadejo. Both are spirits that appear at night to travelers.

Seeing a white cadejo means you will be protected by it on your journey and good fortune will come your way.

Seeing a black cadejo, however, does not bode well for you, for the black cadejo exists as three separate species: one is the devil himself assuming this form and who will drag your soul to hell, another is a man-eating beast, and the third one is a hybrid of the two. It is a strong and dangerous creature but can be killed by a well-armed person.

Heinous Hybrids: Tasmanian Devil-Bee! And more..

A few weeks ago, I asked some Facebook friends to challenge me with this: Name two animals for me to meld together. No dog breeds or other purebred whatnots, no imaginary animals, no cartoon characters, and don’t try to be uber-witty or I’ll just skip it. Just two animals straight out of nature. I got some terrific requests! I got so many that I asked people if they would want their hybrid finalized and colored for a donation to my pet rescue, and some peeps stepped up to the plate.

The first finalized one is what I will gingerly call the TazBee.
