Halloween Countdown 2017: Booger Hollow!

Today I went to visit my dad in Blairsville, up in the north Georgia mountains. Very close to his area is a little town(?) called Booger Hollow, and this time I was determined to snag some evidence.

The sign out front of the one convenience is the best! Although I swear it used to have a ghost on it.

Aha! Found a pic online of the old sign,

It’s even on the street sign!

Dad and me.  I have never given this man any reason to be proud of me…I’ve pretty much failed at everything he had hoped I would be. But I know he likes me because he said he wore his shirt today especially for me!

Halloween Countdown 2017: ESCAPE Radio Show–“The Abominable Snowman”!

As I’ve mentioned, I’m a big fan of old time radio shows. Another favorite program of mine is Escape. Although billed as “Designed to free you from the four walls of today for a half-hour of high adventure”, the show could be outright terrifying at times. An episode I just finished listening to is called “The Abominable Snowman” and involves four men climbing Mt. Everest on their own. One by one, their small expedition faces the challenges of the mountain and a very, very angry and carnivorous guardian of the realm.

Monsters of North America: The Slide Rock Bolter of Colorado!

Bolter.jpg

This huge creature lurks at the tops of mountains, lying in wait, unmoving. It latches itself to the rocks using hooks or fingers on its tail. It seems to be a giant whale.
When it spots prey—usually climbers and tourists—it releases its hooks and slides down the slope, tearing through trees and boulders, and snaps up the victim whole.

The Slide Rock Bolter has been blamed for many missing Colorado tourists.
